The migration advice profession is regulated

In Australia, registered migration agents are regulated by the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority (OMARA). Regulation exists to protect consumers and to keep standards high. This page summarises the official consumer guide. You should also read the full guide, which is published by OMARA.

Check that your agent is registered

Only registered migration agents and Australian legal practitioners may lawfully give immigration assistance for a fee. You can search any agent on the public Register of Migration Agents at mara.gov.au. Our registration is MARN 2217857.

What you are entitled to

• Honest, competent assistance from an agent bound by a legislated Code of Conduct
• A written agreement setting out the services and the fees before any work begins
• Confidentiality, and proper handling of any money you pay
• Clear information about the progress of your matter
• A realistic view of your prospects, with no promise of a particular outcome

Fees and agreements

We set out our fees in writing before we start, so you know what you are agreeing to. Government application charges are separate from our professional fees, and we will explain which is which.

You decide

You can choose whether to use a migration agent at all. You can also change agents, and you can deal with the Department of Home Affairs yourself if you prefer. Using a registered agent is about getting experienced help, not a requirement.
