Identity and Passport

Valid passport - must be valid throughout your intended period of studyPassport must have at least 6 months validity beyond your planned study end date
Copy of the photo ID page and all pages showing previous visas and stamps
Previous passports, if any (all of them, especially those with Australian visa history)

Enrolment - Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)

Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) from your registered Australian education providerIssued through PRISMS by your institution once you have a place and have paid any required fees
Offer letter from the institution (if CoE not yet issued, or as supporting context)

Financial Capacity

Evidence of funds to cover tuition fees for the first yearBank statements showing sufficient funds - the amount is set by the government and reviewed over time
Evidence of funds to cover living costs for yourself (and any accompanying family members)
Evidence of funds for return airfares
If a third party (parent, sponsor) is providing funds - their bank statements and a statutory declaration confirming the support

English Proficiency

English proficiency test results (IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Cambridge or equivalent)Minimum scores vary by institution and course. Check your institution's requirements as well as the visa requirements.
If exempt from language testing - evidence of exemption (e.g. prior English-medium study)

Health Requirements - Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)

Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) policy, covering the full period of your visaRequired for the duration of your student visa. Many institutions arrange this on your behalf.
Health examinations, if requiredNot required for all applicants - the Department will advise if a health assessment is needed based on your country and circumstances

Character

Police clearance certificate from your home country (if required)Required if you are 16 or over and have lived in certain countries for a certain period - the Department advises when this applies
Police clearances from any other country where you have lived for 12 months or more in the last 10 years (if requested)

Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE)

Statement addressing the Genuine Temporary Entrant requirementThe GTE is assessed against your circumstances, the course, and your ties to your home country. We help you frame this.
Evidence of your study being consistent with your career and study history
Evidence of ties to your home country (employment, family, property or other commitments)

Previous Education

Academic transcripts and certificates from your highest level of education
Certified translations of documents not in English
Records of any previous Australian study, if applicable

Additional - If Bringing Family Members

Passports and identity documents for each accompanying family member
Relationship evidence (marriage certificate, birth certificates for children)
School enrolment evidence for dependent children of school age
Additional funds evidence to cover additional family members' living costs
